Veeran of Thookanaickenpalayam had gone into the nearby forest last evening to collect firewood along with some other residents of the village, but did not return home. His body was found this morning by the villagers, police said, adding it bore marks of trampling by an elephant.
A case of accidental death caused by the elephant had been registered and further investigation is on, they said.
