Sonowal orders to IPS officers to go on compulsory leave

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today ordered two senior police officers to go on compulsory leave for allegedly violating service rules.
According to an official release, Sonowal asked the Principal Secretary (Home and Political) to order two IPS officers - R Chandranathan, ADGP (Communication) and Anurag Agarwal, IGP (Border) - to go on leave with immediate effect.
"As per the Chief Minister's direction, an enquiry has also been ordered by the Principal Secretary, Home and Political against these two officials for alleged violation of the provisions made under the All India Service (Conduct) Rules, 1968 by addressing the press on October 25, 2016 and subsequent dates for making allegations against each other," it added.

Sibabrata Kakati, IPS (Retd), has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the inquiry and submitting the report to the government within 30 days.
