Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught S K Sinha for receiving the sum from a contractor for clearing his bills, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Mishra told reporters.
The complainant, Dilip Singh Parihar had submitted bills for payment but the engineer had demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh to clear the bills.
Parihar then tipped-off Lokayukta sleuths about it and later the official was trapped, the DSP said adding a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard.
