Engineering student commits suicide in UP

A 25-year-old engineering student allegedly committed suicide due to exam stress by consuming a poisnous substance, following which college authorities have formed a committee to probe the incident.
Vivek, a second year student, hailing from Mirzapur, was stressed due to the upcoming exams and yesterday he left from his hostel to a hotel where he consumed poison, a police spokesperson said today.
After his condition deteriorated he called his friends to the hotel who immediately admitted him to a hospital, police said, adding, he died last night.
The body was handed over to Vivek's family after postmortem, they said.
The registrar of the institute said the deceased was suffering from depression and was undergoing treatment for the same and added that he was also stressed about the upcoming exams which may have prompted him to take the extreme step.

The institute has formed a three-member committee to probe the incident, he said, adding it would submit its report to the college administration at the earliest.
