: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering has called upon the people of Arunachal Pradesh to forget their political differences and work together for speedy development of the mountain state.
"Development is only possible when people work as a team to bring speedy development and create common assets in the area," he told a public meeting at Mariyang in Upper Siang district during his two-day visit to the district yesterday, official sources said here today.
Stating that road communication is the pillar of all developments, Ering said BRO has been entrusted with the formation cutting of the proposed road from Damro to Maktin-Siam which would connect Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts.
BRO has already started the survey work of the proposed road.
He said he had got the sanction of Rs 25 crore under Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resources from the Centre for construction of a major road from Geku to Mariyang, the two main towns of Mariyang-Geku sub-division.
He also announced sanction of Rs 50 lakh for construction of a Damey Musup (big dormitory) at Damro village.
He sought to clarify doubts on his previously announced schemes and appealed to the locals to have patience for thom to materialise as processes and technicalities take time.
Responding to a public memorandum, Ering said he would appeal to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for early notification of ADC (independent) headquarters at Mariyang so that comes into effect at an early date.
He also assured to take up the demand for survey work for the proposed road from Milang to Singa via Peki-Modi with the concerned authority at the Centre, the sources added.
