Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh was arrested yesterday on the charges of murdering Dawood Nabi in an orchard on January 3 at Gousiabad in Sopore town, police said today.
Dawood's body with multiple stabbing wounds was found in the orchard yesterday after he went missing a day earlier.
"Initial investigation revealed that the boy was taken away from his home by a family acquaintance, Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh, on January 2," a police spokesman said.
"During questioning the accused revealed that he suspected that Dawood had developed illicit relations with his step daughter and on this animosity he took the accused to nearby orchard and killed him by stabbing him several times in his chest and abdomen," the spokesman claimed.
