Evening squall brings relief to Delhi after sultry day

After a sultry day, a brief squall accompanied by light rains in some parts of the city towards the evening brought down the mercury by nearly 10 notches giving some relief to the people here.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose reading is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded the maximum temperature for the day at 40.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal while the minimum temperature settled at 29.5 degrees Celsius, also a notch below the season's average, a MeT department official said.
"After the light rain and squall the temperature at the observatory was recorded at 31 degrees at 8.30 PM," the weatherman said.

Traces of rainfall were recorded at the Safdarjung and Palam observatories.
Humidity level oscillated between 65 and 37 per cent.
The MeT predicted partly overcast conditions along with the possibility of light rain for tomorrow.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Light rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur in the evening and night.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 38 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was pegged at 26.9 degrees Celsius.
