Ram Krushna Pujari (42) of Kalsahandi village under Jeypore Sadar police limits was attacked by about a dozen people in a forested area near Gheuri, about 30 km from here yesterday, Inspector In-Charge of Jeypore Sadar police station Govind Buruda said.
The miscreants attacked Pujari with sharp-edged weapons.
He was taken to Jeypore hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, said the IIC.
Pujari's wife has filed complaints against 15 people of the village, police said adding the murder was believed to have been a fallout of previous rivalry.
