Several global business players are expected to attend the 'Business-to-Business Meet 2015' to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, officials in the Department of Industries and Commerce said.
The meeting is being organised to facilitate an active and beneficial interaction between the manufacturers in the state and the trade and business community in the international market, they said.
The main focus of the meet would be promotion of the products of some of the key sectors of the state namely food processing (food and spices), handlooms, textiles and garments, rubber, wood based Industries, ayurveda and herbal, electrical and electronics and traditional sectors like handicrafts and bamboo.
"The meet aims to showcase the strong SME manufacturing base of the state and to highlight the quality products to sustain the existing industry and enable its growth," an official said.
According to officials, the Department of Industries and Commerce has selected 150 small and medium enterprises after thorough scrutiny and they would be getting an opportunity to interact and strike business deals with global players attending the meet.
SME sector in the state has contributed enormously towards employment generation and economic development.
