Expedia appoints Simon Fiquet as GM for Southeast Asia, India

Global online travel company Expedia today announced the appointment of Simon Fiquet as General Manager for Southeast Asia region and India.
As a part of Asia Pacific (APAC) management team, Fiquet will be responsible for expanding the brand's footprint, P&L and strategic business direction for Expedia brand across seven point of sales.
Based out of Singapore, he will manage operational execution, introduction of innovative products and the overall business results for Expedia.
He will report to Jonathon Neal, CEO, AirAsiaExpedia.
Fiquet said: "With their unique set of dynamic demographic shifts, technology disruption and passion for travel, South East Asia and India currently offer tremendous business opportunities for the brand".
"I look forward to the new challenges and success in this endeavour, especially in the Indian market that is witnessing over 30 per cent growth in the online travel segment," Fiquet added.
Technology, especially smartphones and the rapid expansion of internet access, is profoundly changing the way Indians view the world, plan, and shop and experience their travels and Expedia is working towards simplifying the travel research and booking experience for Indian travellers, he said.
Fiquet brings with him a rich and versatile experience from travel industry, having headed the APAC team for Google Travel.
Expedia is one of the world's largest full service online travel agency with localised sites in 33 countries.
It offers travel solutions covering 30,000 destinations in 200 countries with 15,000 holiday activities and 400 airlines worldwide.
