Father, daughter die in family suicide pact

In what seems to be a suicide pact, a man and his 19-year-old daughter died after consuming food laced with poison while his wife and son have been admitted to hospital, police said today.
The 51-year-old man, a textile industry worker, and other members of the family mixed poison with non-vegetarian food last night and consumed it, police said.
They fell unconscious and neighbours noticed them early this morning and informed police.
Though police rushed them to the Perundurai government hospital, the father and daughter were declared brought dead. The condition of the 25-year-old son is said to be critical, hospital sources said.

Police suspect heavy debts to be the reason for the family members deciding to end their lives.
