FDA undertakes drive to check adulteration ahead of Diwali

Officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have undertaken a special drive to check adulteration in food, sweets and edible oil and vanaspati (ghee) in view of Diwali festival.
The FDA officials have so far impounded stock of adulterated food, edible oil from 29 places in Nashik Division, U S Vanjari, joint director of FDA said in an official release.
85 samples of Mava, Khava were collected at 12 places for examinations.
Vanjari said the drive would continue and urged people to consume fresh sweets.
