Fire brigade of Rupnagar Muncipal Council controlled the fire after some struggle, officials said.
No loss of life and property was reported so far, police said.
An official on duty saw some smoke and high flames in the standing dry high grass and bushes near the boundary wall, then he intimated the officials regarding the fire.
IIT Manager (HR) Neeraj Shrivastava also immediately requested Municipal Council president to send the fire-tenders on the spot to control the fire.
Immediately Fire Brigade reached the spot and controlled the fire after some struggle, he said.
He said the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
