Five operatives of the al-Qaeda militant network were arrested here today during a raid by Pakistan's Anti-Extremist Cell.
The five al-Qaeda militants were arrested from Purana Haji Camp area of Napier during a raid conducted on an intelligence tip-off, Ali Raza, CID DSP, told reporters.
"The arrested militants include local commander Asad Khan, Shahid Usman, Fawad Khan, Shahid Ansari and Ssman," he said.
Raza said the group was operating the al-Qaeda network from Karachi, adding that they were also involved in various crimes and were planning a terror attack.
Ten kilogrammes of explosives were also seized from the operatives.
The police on Monday also killed the mastermind of the bomb attacks on the convoy of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
Firdos Khan, who was affiliated with the defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Mehsood group, was killed in Mangophir.
