Five persons booked for murder of Sarpanch

Five persons have been booked in connection with the murder of the Sarpanch of Khvajke village, police said today.
Twelve bullet marks were found on his body, they said.
The accused have been identified and a case registered against five persons, two of whom are believed to be hired killers from Moga district having criminal record, Additional DCP Parmjit Singh Pannu said.
Among the other three, one is Ghugani, currently lodged in Ludhiana jail who had hatched the conspiracy to murder the sarpanch, he said, adding it appears to be a case of old enmity.
Ravi Khwajke, was shot dead when he as attending a wedding on Ludhiana-Malerkotla road here last evening. Eyewitnesses said the assailants danced after shooting him, police said.
Seven cases including murder, attempt to murder and those under the Arms Act were registered against the deceased, they said, adding the post-mortem was conducted today.
