Singh, also president of 'All India Jat Mahasabha', was in the city to address the 14th National Jat Intellectual conference.
Singh, who had served as the minister of State for Railways in 1989-90, said, "Jats have presence in various sectors including Army, politics, sports etc. And have made tremendous progress. However, following internal differences and hostilities, our progress is stalled".
"The picture would have been different had stalwarts like (former Prime Minister) Charan Singh and Devilal (former deputy-Prime Minister) came together," he said.
Vijendra Singh, who trained local girl Kavita Raut, an acclaimed long-distance runner, demanded financial assistance for the athlete who holds the national record for 10-km road running.
