Food security a crucial issue globally: Tariq

"Food security in view of rapid rise in population has become a big question today," Anwar told reporters.

The minister, who attended an international summit on food security at Berlin recently, said agriculture ministers of different countries discussed the issue of food security and cooperative movement.

Addressing a function of Cooperative Land Development, the minister said all the countries were engaged in planning food security for their citizens in view of rapid growth in population globally.

He said the marginal farmers were facing problem due to rising input cost of farming. Anwar said Land Development Banks and Cooperative Banks could play an important role to help such farmers.

Anwar promised all help to Bihar government for success of five year roadmap it has drawn to spur agriculture in the state.
