Four arrested for betting on SA-Lanka ODI

Four persons were arrested for allegedly betting on one-day cricket match played between Sri Lanka and South Africa, police said today.
The accused have been identified as Parveen of Saidhpur, Jaswant of Thana Kalan, Bhim Sen of Baba colony and Hari Om of Maamchand colony, Sonipat, Haryana police said in a release here.
The release said that acting on the directions of DSP Sonipat Arun Singh, a team of police officials caught the four accused red handed in Thana Kalan while betting on cricket match played in Colombo yesterday between the Proteas and the Lankan team.
The police recovered a laptop, a LED, set top box, four mobiles, notebooks and Rs 8200 cash, from the spot.
The arrested accused have been booked under the Prevention of Gambling Act and a case has been registered at Kharkhoda Police Station, Sonipat.
