Four persons were charred to death and two injured when a fire swept through an illegal cracker wick unit near Kammapatti this evening, police said.
The victims included a man, a woman and two children, they said, adding the injured had been hospitalised with more than 90 per cent burns.
Police said the blaze was first spotted in a shed in which the employees were working and spread fast, destroying it.
This is the second accident in fireworks units in the district in the last two days. The first occurred on June 25, in which three people perished.
