The 28-year-old actress, who played a primatologist, Caroline Aranha, in the 2011 film will not be part of the "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", reported Digitalspy.
It has been reported that the producers are moving ahead with a whole new cast.
"The sequel's on, but we're not in it. It's a whole new cast. It would have been great to (do the sequel), but I don't know how they would bring our characters back in. But we'll do something else," Pinto said.
The film is due to hit theatres in May 2014.
