Tiwari was sent to police lines on direction of Amethi Superintendent of Police Hira Lal.
The SP said that Tiwari failed to come to the aid of a family which sought help after armed dacoits struck the house last night. The robbers allegedly looted the house. A woman was also allegedly gang-raped, police said.
On the intervention of the SP, an FIR was lodged in this regard with the Fursatganj police this morning.
Tiwari has been replaced by Suresh Kumar Mishra, the SHO of Sangrampur in Amethi district.
