Gangster Odedra shot by gunmen; condition stable

Alleged gangster Bhima Dula Odedra was today shot and injured by two unknown bike-borne assailants in a village in Porbandar district, police said.
"Two bike-borne assailants fired at Bhima Dula after he emerged from a house in Adityana village where he had gone to attend a marriage function. The attackers managed to flee the scene," said Porbandar in-charge Superintendent of Police M D Jadeja.
A bullet hit Odedra on the right part of his abdomen and he was rushed to a private hospital in Rajkot where his condition is stable, he said.
The attack on Odedra in his native district, around 350km from here, may have been as an act of revenge, the police officer said.

The 60-year-old gangster faces several criminal cases. He had been in jail in connection with the murder of mining businessman from the coastal town Mulu Modhwadia, who was a close aide to former State Congress President Arjun Modhwadia.
However, Odedra and other accused in the case were later acquitted by a Court.
He is the elder brother of former BJP MLA from Kutiyana in Porbandar district Karshan Dula and a relative of Gujarat Cabinet Minister Babu Bokhiriya.
