Following the row over the suspension of Gautma Budh Nagar SDM Durga Sakthi Nagpal, who critics say was penalised for having acted against illegal sand mining in her area, the Uttar Pradesh government is said to have issued directions for intensifying raids against the mining mafia.
Some of those arrested following the raids yesterday have been identified as Jai Kishan, Mukram, Rahees and Daulat Singh. Six dumper trucks and equipment used in the illegal mining of sand was seized from them.
The DM said that the drive against the mining mafia will continue apace.
