"Established in 1988, GBPIHED has now got the full time life membership of the Association of Himalayan Universities," said Director GB Pant Institute, Dr D P Dhyani.
"Our scientists will now get wide opportunities for the promotion of Himalayan environment studies for the sake of its land and people," he said.
He also said that they can easily work in the Himalayan region of Hidukush and other parts of the member countries in related field and do combined research.
The Association of Himalayan Universities was formed in Kathmandu in 2007 with the help of International Unified Hill Development Centre, India, Nepal, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
The members of this association include selected universities and institutes of Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Thailand, England and US.
