Ghana High Commissioner Samuel Panyin Yalley today called on Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar to discuss about setting up of urea-ammonia joint venture project in his country.
"In the meeting, the issue of setting up of a ammonia urea project under joint venture through an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries came up for discussion," according to an official statement.
Ghana and India had in 2010 entered into a deal to establish a urea plant fitted with capacity to produce 1.2 million tonnes per year, with the two countries asked to identify a company from each side to execute the project.
The deal did not go through as the West African country denied assured gas supply.
The Minister of State for Fertilizers Nihal Chand and Fertilizers Secretary J K Mohapatra also participated in the meeting.
