The girl reached District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar's residence this morning and attempted to immolate herself, but was prevented by the security personnel deployed there, they said.
According to police, she was harassed by one Munnu of Subhash Nagar area and this is stated to be the reason behind her step.
The matter is being investigated, they added.
