Girl raped by man, dies after being pushed into well by him

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man, who later pushed her into a well and left her to drown at a village in Sangareddy district of Telangana, police said today.
The accused, Shiva Kumar, was arrested for the crime that took place yesterday, a police officer said.
"The girl, who goes to a nearby primary school, was raped and murdered by the accused in Mannapur village in Mogdampally mandal" N Ravi, deputy superintendent of police, Zaheerabad division of Sangareddy District, said.
During the lunch break at her school, located in the neighbourhood, the girl came home in the afternoon and after having her meal, went back to school. However, when she did not return home till late evening, her mother launched a search and later registered a missing person's report at Charagpally police station, he said.

Police launched a probe and nabbed Shiva Kumar this morning, Ravi said adding that he was taken into custody.
"During his interrogation, the accused told the police that he took the girl to a nearby agricultural field and raped her there twice. He also told the police that later he threw the girl into a well," the officer said.
Police, with the help of local people, conducted a search operation and recovered her body from the well today. The body was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem.
