Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "ashamed of being born Indian" comment during his just-concluded overseas tour, saying it was an insult to the citizens.
"Unlike PM Modi, myself and millions of Indians feel proud to be born Indians and we never consider ourselves to have committed sins in our past lives to be born Indians," Gogoi tweeted.
Gogoi further said such shameful remarks have "undermined" the stature of the Prime Minister and lowered the dignity of his office.
