The incident took place around 8.20 AM. A total of 31 box wagons of the goods train derailed damaging rail tracks and affecting the running of a number of trains, a railway official said.
Soon after getting information about the incident, senior railway officials rushed to the spot.
Because of the derailment, 11448 Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express is being diverted via Mirzapur-Choupan- Manikpur-Satna-Katni route, he said, adding a number of passenger trains are being short-terminated.
