Govt merges Cabinet panels on Infra and Economic Affairs

This comes in the wake of the Union Cabinet deciding to set up a ministerial panel on investments, which would deal with big projects facing difficulties in getting various government clearances.

"Subsequent to the decision to set up the Cabinet Committee on Investment, whatever consequential actions need to be taken in order to facilitate that decision would obviously follow their logical course," I&B Minister Manish Tewari told reporters here.

Meanwhile, sources said the ministerial panel on infrastructure would be merged with the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
