According to the data provided by Union Minister for Communications and IT Kapil Sibal in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, government had released a total of Rs 1,225.90 crore in the last four financial years for various e-governance projects.
In 2010-11, the government had spent Rs 264.15 crore, while in the next fiscal it had released Rs 256.17 crore on e-governance.
National e-governance Plan (NeGP) comprises of 31 mission mode projects (MMPs). Various initiatives have been undertaken to develop state data centres, common service centres (CSCs) and state-wide area networks.
The production in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector has grown to Rs 6,93,036 crore in 2012-13, from Rs 3,72,450 crore in 2008-09, registering a growth of 86.07 per cent, he added.
