"The company is contemplating to set up the petrochemical complex at Dahej with an estimated capital outlay between Rs 8,000 to 10,000 crore," GSFC said in a filing to the BSE today.
The status of this complex at present is at the feasibility study/DPR as well as search/selection of technology suppliers, it added.
When contacted, company's CFO V D Nanavaty said that the board has given an in-principle approval to set up caprolactam plant of 1 lakh tonnes of capacity at an investment of Rs 4,000 crore.
The company would set up the complex on 300 hectares of land, which has already been acquired for Rs 300 crore, he added.
At present, GSFC has four plants at Fertilisernagar on the outskirt of Vadodara city, Sikka at Jamnagar in Saurashtra, Kosamba in Surat and a unit in the industrial estate area located at Nandesari in Vadodara.
