After getting a nod from Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee today appointed eight new office-bearers ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
"GPCC today appointed two vice presidents, five general secretaries and one secretary," said Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi.
"Ashok Panjabi, associated with Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), and former MLA Dheersinh Barad have been appointed as GPCC vice presidents while Lalji Desai, Dr Vijay Dave, Pankaj Shah, Jaswant Bhatti and Vajirkhan Pathan have been appointed as general secretaries," Doshi said.
City-based civil rights activist Raju Purohit has been designated as the GPCC secretary.
Due to the ill-health of the current president Premji Vadlani, Amarsinh Solanki has been appointed as acting president of Ahmedabad District Congress Committee, said Doshi.
