Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said a separate 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit' for medium, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) would be organised to attract investment in the sector.
The announcement of organising such an event, which will be on the pattern of biennial 'Vibrant Summit', was made by Patel at the western region conference of 'Laghu Udyog Bharati', a pan-India organisation of MSME industry, an official release said.
According to the Chief Minister, 80 per cent of all MSMEs, which had signed Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) in various 'Vibrant Summits', have gone into production.
Patel said MSME industry provides maximum employment opportunities.
In order to look after the needs of this industry in a better way, Patel also announced setting up a special cell for the MSME sector, it added.
She assured the industry leaders that her government will invite suggestions from them about problems being faced by this sector and would try to solve them within couple of months.
The two-day conclave, which ended today, saw participation of over 500 delegates from Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra.
Patel also informed that her government is mulling establishing exclusive industrial estates for MSME units across the state.
To encourage new entrepreneurs and start-ups in this sector, Patel also assured the industry that such units would get sheds in existing industrial estates at subsidised rates, the release added.
The 8th edition of 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit', a brain child of then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to take place from January 10, next year.
