Four men in a car waylaid the cash van of an agency filling ATMs of ICICI bank in the posh Defence Colony area this afternoon, then opened fire at the guard and fled with the vehicle which is believed to have around Rs five crore.
The robbers left their car bearing Haryana registration number -- HR 26 AQ 0051 -- at the spot.
They also abandoned the van in Hauz Rani area in Malviya Nagar, a few kms away. No cash was found inside the van.
The injured guard has been rushed to AIIMS where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors said his condition is serious.
Senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner (South-West) Vivek Gogia, rushed to the spot.
