Entry and exit points of the city were sealed while vehicles were thoroughly checked to nab gangsters -- Sukha Bhikhariwal and Giana Kharal, members of the Vicky Gounder gang.
"We received information that Sukha and Giana were seen in a white SUV here," said Gurdaspur SP (D) Harpal Singh said.
However, after through checking the police found out somebody else was travelling in the white SUV, Singh said.
Sukha and Giana are said to be members of the notorious gangster Vicky Gounder gang.
In April, Gounder alongwith Sukha, Giana and one other had allegedly shot dead three rival gang members near the Aujala by-pass on Kahnuwan Road here.
Punjab Police has formed special anti-gangster squads to nab the criminals after facing flak from several quarters over the rising menace of notorious gangsters in the state.
