The chief minister's directive came at the cabinet meeting held here today to finalise the schedule of the Budget Session of the state assembly and to take several other vital decisions, said an official press release.
Taking serious note of reports on a large number of illegal private buses plying on Punjab roads, he directed the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to check all such buses that pose a serious danger to the lives of innocent people.
Reiterating his commitment to eliminate all mafias from the state, he expressed serious concern over some media reports that the transport mafia continued to run unchecked.
He also warned the transport department of strict action if they fail to take necessary action to end the rampant violation of the transport rules and regulations.
Amarinder also directed the vigilance department to identify such operators and take action against them.
