The 41-year-old Elbow frontman, said he used to think alcohol helped his career but now realises some of his best work was penned while he was sober, reported The Guardian.
"I'm ashamed to say I could polish off a bottle without a problem. I could have this conversation after a bottle of scotch. I used to think booze helped me write. It doesn't at all. I used to convince myself it was a necessary part," Garvey said.
However, the singer, who recently released his debut solo album, has realised that he works much better when in senses.
