Vinothini of Chinna Pallipalayam near Musiri in the district was psychologically affected and had been behaving strangely for some months after a woman in the same area committed suicide by immolation, they said.
Vinothini strongly felt that the woman's ghost had entered her body and she wanted to chase it away. Her parents took her to a sorcerer who also told them that the ghost of a woman was haunting her, police added.
The girl allegedly committed suicide in her house when her parents were away, they said.
