The court gave the direction when a PIL by Advocate Elephant G Rajendran came up on Thursday.
The court said, "We have perused the report filed by the investigating officer and the charge sheet is stated to have been filed before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, on November 23. The final report has been produced before this court.
Alleging that the police had not taken any action against the lawyers, the petitioner sought a direction to the chairman and secretary of the Bar Council of India to initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.
In August last year, about 50 lawyers had allegedly barged into the premises of the Madras High Court chief justice's residence, when he was away in New Delhi, and raised slogans against the police.
