The division bench of Justices D N Patel and Prasant Kumar today directed the Ranchi-based Boys Observation Home to give custody of Sunil Oraon alias Ravish to his biological mother Meera Devi of Pahari Tola here.

After Ravish went missing on March 17, 2010, Devi lodged a missing report with the Sukhdeonagar police station.

One Jitendra Pandey found Ravish alone on the railway crossing at Namkum of Ganeshpur village of the district.

Pandey gave him away to one Gola Orain in the village.

Later, the police traced Ravish along with Gola Orain, who claimed that Ravish was her biological son and would not part with him. This prompted Devi to move the high court.

After hearing both the sides on December 3, the court sent the boy to the Boys Observation Home with a direction that a DNA test be conducted on the two women and the boy.

Blood samples of Devi and Ravish matched in the DNA test conducted at the Forensic and Toxicology Department of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, and confirmed by the Forensic Science Laboratory, Ranchi.
