A bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice S Vaidyanathan, gave the directive on a petition by K. Muthusamy, Deputy Secretary of Veppanthattai Union MGR Youth Wing of AIADMK.
The court directed the tahsildar, Veppanthattai Taluk, to whom instructions have already been issued by the District Collector, to remove the encroachment in supply channel from Suvedha river to the irrigation tank and the adjacent road within three months.
"The petitioner claims that his request for removal of encroachment has not been heeded to by his (party) government and thus requests the Court to step in," the court observed.
