The Madras High Court has directed Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to publish the marks of all candidates who appeared for written examinations in respect all recruitments to ensure transparency and avoid unnecessary litigation by unsuccesful job aspirants.
Justice D. Hariparanthaman issued the directive while disposing of petitions by three candidates who failed to qualify in the written examination for the posts of Assistant Engineers (Industries) held by TNPSC last year.
Petitioners, including one M Vijay Keerthi, had submitted that only the marks of candidates selected for interview were published by TNPSC.
"It is surprising that the marks of the candidates, who appeared in the recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer, is not published. In my view, before issuing notification calling candidates to appear for interview, TNPSC shall publish the marks of all the candidates who appeared for the written examination in respect of all the recruitments," the Judge said.
This would ensure transparency in the method of recruitment and the candidates could not rush to this court, he added.
On April 27, the court had passed on interim order directing TNPSC to produce the marks obtained by candidates called for interview in two notifications and that of the petitioners.
The counsel for the petitioners had gone through the marks obtained by them and found they were lesser than the marks obtained by the candidates called for interview.
