HC helps young couple get married

Kerala High Court has lent a helping hand to a young couple from different faiths, who were facing death threats from fundamentalists, to enter wedlock.
The Hindu woman and her Muslim lover were forced to flee Kasaragod, the northernmost district of Kerala, after they received death threats following their decision to get married.
The matter came up before the Kerala High Court after the girl's father K M Shashindran filed a habeas corpus petition stating that his daughter was missing.
The two appeared before the court on February 18 and sought registeration of their marriage at Ernakulam following threats they received from Chengala in Kasaragod from where they hail.

A division bench of the High Court comprising justices V K Mohanan and P D Rajan directed the marriage officer of Badiadka, where they had given notice for their wedding, to come to Ernakulam and register the wedding.
The court also directed police to provide protection to the couple. The marriage was registered on February 25 at the premises of the women's hostel where the woman was lodged.
