When the petition came up for hearing, Justice M M Sundaresh ordered notice to the respondents.
Petitioner Maheswari alleged that her husband Isakki was taken to Anna Nagar police station here on July 11, 2014 in connection with a criminal complaint against him and brutally attacked by eight police personnel, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police and two Inspectors, for three days.
The petitioner alleged that her husband died only due to the assault by police personnel and to safeguard them, a case of death under suspicious circumstances registered.
She had sent a representation to the officials seeking appropropriate action against the eight police personnel and compensation as her husband was the sole bread-winner and she had four children.
The petitioner sought an interim compensation for running the family and also to take disciplinary action against the police personnel.
