HC restrains film makers from showing ICICI bank's name

The Delhi High Court today restrained the makers of Bollywood film "Grand Masti" from showing the name and banner of ICICI bank on its plea alleging that no prior permission was taken from it.
Issuing notices to the director and producer of the comedy flick, sceduled to be released on September 13 in threatres, Justice M L Mehta in an ex-parte order restrained the movie makers from showing any name or banner of the bank till further order.
Appearing for ICICI bank, Senior Advocate Sanjay Jain submitted that the film in its trailer has been showing the bank and its staff in poor light when a bank robbery incident takes place.

He argued that the private bank has its registered trade mark and the film makers have not taken permission from the bank to display its banner.
Claiming that the video clips are very much clear, the senior advocate said that the manner in which the name of the ICICI bank was shown that would damage its reputation.
He also sought removal of "objectionable" visuals from the film.
The film Grand Masti is a sequel to the 2004 hit Masti featuring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh reprising their roles from the original and is directed by Indra Kumar.
