History-sheeter arrested in Bhatt plot case

A convicted history-sheeter was today arrested in connection with a plot to attack veteran filmmaker-brothers Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, police said.
Yusuf Suleiman Kadri alias Yusuf Bachkana is also suspected to be involved in the firing outside the residence of Karim Morani, producer of blockbuster 'Chennai Express', last year, they said.
Kadri, who was serving a jail sentence in a criminal case in Karnataka, was brought here and placed under arrest in the case related to the Bhatts.
A Crime Branch officer said, "The custody of Kadri, lodged in Bengaluru's Central Jail after being convicted in a case there, was sought from a court there and he was brought to Mumbai. He has been placed under arrest in the Bhatts' case, where he emerged as a key conspirator."

Police had arrested 14 men, allegedly associated with gangster Ravi Pujari, in November last year in these two cases.
Eleven of these had on November 15 gathered at a spot here to target the Bhatts at Pujari's instructions but police thwarted the plot with their timely intervention. While the other three were involved in the firing incident on August 23 last year.
