Home Minister Rajnath Singh today hoped that China will make serious attempt to resolve the border dispute with India during the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to that country.
Addressing a gathering after releasing a book on Chinese immigrants who are settled in Assam for over a century, Singh said that India wants to maintain cordial relations with its neighbour as it thinks that the whole world is one family or 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.
"We have been trying our best to resolve our border dispute with China. We hope that China will also make serious attempt to resolve the dispute during our Prime Minister's coming visit to China," he said.
Modi will leave tomorrow for his six-day tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea.
Singh said the NDA government wanted to maintain friendly relations with its neighbouring countries and that is why Modi had invited the heads of SAARC nations when the new government assumed charge in May 2014.
"I hope that the Sino-Indian relations will reach a new high in the coming days," he said.
