Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra may be launching Anil Kapoor's son Harshvardhan in his upcoming romance saga "Mirzya" but the director says it is his father that he has been wanting to work with for many years now.
"Mirzya" is based upon the tragic love story of Mirza-Sahiban.
The trailer of the movie, which also stars Saiyami Kher, was released here during a press conference on the sidelines of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards celebrations, which kick-started yesterday in the Spanish capital.
"I always wanted to work with Anil and I still do. But I never got an opportunity. Now I am working with his son. I am launching him in my film. It is very important for me," Mehra said.
"This is also emotional because it is Harsh's first step into the world of cinema. I have a feeling that you will be seeing a lot more of him," the filmmaker said.
Anil, who has had a long collaboration with IIFA, took to the stage to welcome his son in Bollywood and thanked Mehra for launching the youngster launch in his movie.
"It is my son's first film. It is an emotional moment for me. I can't thank Mehra enough. There are a lot of people in the world who don't know I have a son. They know I have two daughters Sonam and Rhea," Anil said.
"Mirzya" is slated to release on October 7.
