The shocking incident took place at Manik Ghosh Bazaar under Purighat police station here today.
According to police, the deceased Sk Nazir Hussain (35) entered into the house of one Triveni Devi of the locality in the wee hours of the day just when Triveni Devi had left her house keeping the doors ajar to collect water from a nearby stand post. Seeing someone had entered her house, Triveni Devi locked the door from outside and sounded an alert. The 65-year-old lady stays alone in the house, police said.
"We have registered a case in this matter and sent the body for post mortem", said the local police inspector Tapas Chandra Pradhan suspecting that the youth might have taken the extreme step of self immolation to escape from public humiliation.
